Building a nation resembles tending to a garden. To cultivate a thriving and dynamic nation, it is essential to start by planting seeds. Trying to initiate the process with a fully-grown garden or grafting trees skips the necessary stages of natural growth and adaptation. Similarly, attempting to replicate someone else’s garden without first establishing the foundational groundwork will result in unrealized aspirations.

Imagine a gardener with a vision of a breathtaking garden, teeming with diverse flowers, lush greenery, and robust trees. To bring this vision to life, the gardener doesn’t start with a mature garden but with seeds and young plants. These seeds represent the core values, principles, and institutions of a nation. With patience, care, and consistent effort—akin to watering, weeding, and providing sunlight—these seeds grow and develop into a resilient, beautiful garden.

In nation-building, the seeds are the foundational elements like education, justice, freedom of speech, and community values. Just as a gardener must understand the soil and climate, leaders and citizens must understand their nation’s unique cultural, historical, and social context. Attempting to skip these early stages and jump straight to the end result is like expecting a garden to bloom without planting anything. It overlooks the essential processes of growth, adaptation, and nurturing.

Similarly, removing essential values from a flourishing garden, such as freedom of expression, will result in the development of weak personalities, and a lack of critical analysis will hinder the growth of robust trees. Instead of bearing fruit, those trees will stand barren and unproductive, like hypocrites. Instead of cultivating a thriving garden, you will end up destroying it.

In essence, the beauty and success of a nation, like a garden, rely on dedicated growth from the ground up. Only through planting, tending, and fostering development can the vision of a prosperous and harmonious nation be achieved, not through political slogans or imitating someone else’s garden.
