The essence of faith lies in the purification (Tazkiyah in Arabic) of one’s ethics and morality. All teachings of faith are designed to refine and elevate ethical values. Whether one is discussing politics, economics, or conducting business, it should be approached from an ethical standpoint. Every action should be guided by principles of ethics. For instance, giving charity serves as a purification of our wealth.
The tongue, a vital organ, acts like a double-edged sword, possessing both positive and negative potentials. When wielded wisely, it can foster a healthy and harmonious societal environment. However, when misused, it can be as destructive as a raging wildfire, capable of unraveling the entire social fabric. The proper use of the tongue can cultivate love and unity among people, while its misuse can incite hatred and intolerance, spreading like a disease through society.
We must avoid derogatory name-calling and addressing others disrespectfully, as these negative remarks are akin to releasing toxins into the social atmosphere. People of faith are strongly urged to refrain from such harmful practices, which act like a boomerang. When one uses undesirable language, it not only pollutes their own nature, committing a moral crime, but it also contaminates the ethical atmosphere of the entire society. This is comparable to introducing a pollutant into a clear stream, where the contamination spreads and affects all who rely on it.
Ultimately, our words hold immense power, and their impact can be as profound as the ripples created by a pebble thrown into a pond. We must strive to use our tongues to promote love, understanding, and unity, thereby purifying both ourselves and the society we live in.
