This piece “Jab Sach Be Asar Ho Kaye” (“When Truth No Longer Moves the Heart”) (See Urdu poetry https://youtu.be/Ki15vILbZKA and English poetry https://youtu.be/7E5_Nld4vKY)
is describing what classical Islamic theology often calls the Sunnatullah (Divine Law) of Guidance and Misguidance:

1. Truth is presented.
2. Human beings are given intellect (`aql), conscience, signs, reminders, and opportunities.
3. They are free to accept or reject.
4. Repeated rejection is not without consequence.
5. The heart gradually loses sensitivity to truth.
6. What was once obvious becomes ineffective (be-asar).
7. The person begins rationalizing falsehood.
8. Eventually, guidance is withdrawn and misguidance becomes self-reinforcing.
9. At that stage, Satan does not create the misguidance; he merely gains influence over a person who repeatedly chose it.

This is why the central line:

“Yeh jabr nahin… Yeh aadat-e-intikhaab ka safar hai…”

“This is not coercion… It is the journey of repeated choices.”

is the theological key to the entire poem.

The Qur’anic idea is not that God arbitrarily misguides people.

Rather:

-A person repeatedly rejects truth,
-repeatedly follows desire,
-repeatedly ignores conscience,
-repeatedly dismisses signs,
-until a moral tipping point is reached.

Then the person enters a state described in many Qur’anic (and in the Bible as well) passages as:

* hearts becoming sealed,
* eyes seeing but not perceiving,
* ears hearing but not understanding,
* truth being present but having no effect.

In that light, some of the lines can be understood more precisely:

“Yeh kaisa mod ke har sach bhi be-asar ho jaaye”

Not merely:

Truth becomes ineffective.

But:

A stage is reached where truth no longer penetrates the heart.

“Nazar ke saamne ho aur dil be-khabar ho jaaye”

Not:

The person doesn’t know.

But:

The person sees yet refuses to perceive.

“Musalsal inkaar ki dhund jab utarti jaaye”

When the fog of continual denial settles over the soul.

Not a single rejection.

A pattern.

“Yeh aql jis ko mila tha tameez ka paimana”

The intellect was given to distinguish truth from falsehood.

Yet:

It becomes a tool for justification rather than discernment.

“Yeh gumraahi nahin sirf nishaan kho dene ki”

This is perhaps the strongest verse.

Because it says:

Misguidance is not merely losing the map.

It is reaching a condition where:

Falsehood itself begins to appear trustworthy.

“Yeh haal hai ke andhera bhi mo’tabar ho jaaye”

This is almost the climax of the moral law.

-Darkness acquires legitimacy.

-Falsehood acquires credibility.

-Evil acquires moral justification.

“Chalo ke aaj bhi mumkin hai wapas aana humein”

And here comes the mercy.

The poem ends not with condemnation but with repentance.

As long as the heart can still awaken:

“Agar yeh dil kisi lamhe mein ba-khabar ho jaaye”

If the heart becomes aware even for a moment.

the path back remains open.

So philosophically, this poetry is not really about ignorance.

It is about:

How repeated moral choices reshape perception itself.

And its central message is:

People are rarely destroyed by one great act of rebellion.

They are more often led astray by a long series of small rejections of truth, until eventually truth stands before them and no longer moves them.

Urdu Lyrics with line by line translation
————————————————-
Yeh kaisa mod ke har sach bhi be-asar ho jaaye
What kind of turning point is this, where even truth loses its power?
Nazar ke saamne ho aur dil be-khabar ho jaaye
Where it stands before our eyes, yet the heart remains unaware.
Be-asar ho jaaye…
May it become ineffective…
Be-khabar ho jaaye…
May it become unaware…
Sach bhi… be-asar ho jaaye
Even truth itself becomes powerless.
Wohi shu’oor jo sach ko parakhne ka fan rakhta tha
That very consciousness which once knew how to discern truth,
Usi ke haath mein har fahm be-nazar ho jaaye
In its own hands, all understanding becomes blind.
Yeh dil jo pehle tha aaina-e-haqeeqat ka
This heart that once reflected reality like a mirror,
Wohi khwaahish ke dhoke mein be-jigar ho jaaye
Becomes weakened and hollow in the deception of desire.
Becomes powerless…
Be-khabar ho jaaye…
Becomes unaware…
Musalsal inkaar ki dhund jab utarti jaaye
When the fog of constant denial keeps descending,
To roshni ka bhi har rang be-sahar ho jaaye
Even the colors of light lose their dawn and brilliance.
Yeh aql jis ko mila tha tameez ka paimana
This intellect that was gifted the measure of discernment,
Wohi daleel ke parde mein be-hunar ho jaaye
Becomes incapable while hiding behind the veil of argument.
Yeh jabr nahin…
This is not coercion…
Yeh aadat-e-intikhaab ka safar hai…
It is the journey of repeated choices.
Ke aadmi…
That a person…
Khud apne hi khilaaf ho jaaye…
Gradually turns against himself.
Jo baar baar mude raasta-e-hidaayat se
The one who repeatedly turns away from the path of guidance,
Wohi qadam kisi andhi simt safar ho jaaye
Finds his steps traveling toward a blind direction.
Yeh gumraahi nahin sirf nishaan kho dene ki
This is not merely the loss of a signpost,
Yeh haal hai ke andhera bhi mo’tabar ho jaaye
It is a state where even darkness begins to seem trustworthy.
Chalo ke aaj bhi mumkin hai wapas aana humein
Come, for even now it is possible for us to return,
Agar yeh dil kisi lamhe mein ba-khabar ho jaaye
If this heart becomes truly aware for even a moment.
Be-khabar ho jaaye…
Becomes unaware…
Be-asar ho jaaye…
Becomes powerless…

English Lyrics
There comes a moment…
when truth is no longer hidden—
and still…
it doesn’t reach you.

You see it clearly…
you know where it leads…
But something in you
chooses not to feel.

The light is there but it fades in your sight
Not because it left… but you turned from the light
The mind that once could tell wrong from right
Now bends every reason to justify the night
You hear the warning, you know what is true
But truth feels distant… it no longer moves you

When truth stops reaching you…
what do you become?
When right feels optional…
what have you undone?
When every sign is clear…
but nothing gets through—
That’s not the loss of truth…
that’s the loss of you.

A heart that once trembled at the edge of a lie
Now walks through shadows without asking why
Each choice you make rewrites your sight
Till wrong feels normal… and darkness feels right
It doesn’t happen all at once… it’s slow
A quiet drift you barely even know

It’s not that the path was never shown
It’s that you chose to walk alone
Again… and again… and again you turned
Till even the memory of truth was burned

You knew…
You saw…
You felt…
And still you walked away
Now every echo in your mind
Repeats the choice you made

But listen—
If you can still hear this…
If something in you still resists…
Then you are not gone.
Turn…
before the silence becomes complete.
Before truth…
stops reaching you.
